Fraugde Solar Park is located on Funen in southern Denmark. Renewable energy is now produced on fields that have been converted from agricultural use. The park features nature and recreational initiatives for the local residents and wildlife to enjoy.

Supporting the green transition with sustainable land

Fraugde Solar Park is situated on fields that have been converted from agricultural use. In line with Odense Municipality's high ambition for the green transition, the park delivers additional green energy to the electricity grid. It also incorporates nature and recreational initiatives, benefiting both local residents and wildlife while contributing to a more sustainable future.

During the planning process, individual solutions have been made with the closest neighbours.

New wetland

Establishment of a new wetland in an existing lowland area in the northwest corner of the park. The new wetland is located next to a protected watercourse and will improve conditions for amphibians and birds.

Preservation of existing forest and scrub areas

Forest areas and existing scrub have been preserved around the protected lakes to improve the overall biodiversity of the areas.​

Grazing sheep

The sheep make sure that grasses and herbs do not grow up and shade the panels. The animals get shelter from the solar panels and fresh grass, while the farmers take advantage of the open spaces.​

Natural hedgerows

Establishing planting belts around the solar areas of the park, creating visual shielding using native trees​ and shrubs.

Grazing sheep

The sheep keep grasses and herbs from shading the panels, while benefiting from shelter and fresh grass. Farmers also make use of the open space.

We have preserved forest areas and existing scrub around the protected lakes to enhance the overall biodiversity of the region.
